St. Émilion

Took a day trip by train to the wine destination of St. Émilion. The train dropped us off at the very rural, pastoral Gare St.Émilion from which we walked uphill 2km to the city center.

We stopped by a local bar for some morning wine, enjoying Bordeaux rosé et rouge. While there the friendly owner came by to say hello and have a chat. What a friendly fellow! He is taking English classes every Monday, so he enjoyed practicing with us. He showed us his property and a little Airbnb apartment he has up inside the 17th century structure. Here’s the circular stairway and view.

He recommended a restaurant and called to make reservations for us. He walked us over to the restaurant and introduced us to the owner of Le Tertre. And then we were treated like kings! We ate a 5 course meal of beautiful, regional food!

And wine, wine, wine!!

Some wines were out of our price range, but I’m sure were delicious!
