Trip to Newfoundland, the long version…
Two days later than initially planned, I left for NL on American Airlines to Boston at 9:07 am, Saturday March 9.
Despite not sleeping much at all last night, and then somehow sleeping past the alarm (!), I arrived at the airport on time. Then, 1 minute before boarding, I was upgraded to 1st class! Seat 1F, first row, window seat. Just got served a coffee while everyone else boards.
Off to BOS! Then, a 2 hour layover before my next flight to Halifax. Then a 50 minute layover until my hopeful flight to St. John’s.
I say hopefully because Newfoundland was hit with a 3-day major snowstorm. Newfoundlanders call it Sheila’s Brush – the major snowstorm that seems to hit each year on or near St Patrick’s Day. They received over 4’ of snow over the past 3 days!
The AA flight to BOS was turbulent the whole way. So, while I enjoyed the legroom and front row location, there was no in-flight service so I didn’t get to maximize first class. SUCH a 1st world problem!
Sounds like an eventful trip so far. Hopefully you’ll soon be in St. Johns exploring.
